Film d'amore per la giornata dell'amore! - Love movies for Valentine's day

Io e Annie (Woody Allen - 1977)

Notting Hill (Roger Michell - 1999)

Harry ti presento Sally (Rob Reiner - 1989)

Prima dell'alba (Richard Linklater - 1995)

In the mood for love (Wong Kar-wai - 2000)

Pretty woman (Gary Marshall - 1990)

Le onde del destino (Lars von Trier - 1996)

West side story (Jerome Robbins e Robert Wise - 1961)

Indovina chi viene a cena? (Stanley Kramer - 1967)

Today is Valentine's day...The international day for love or just another commercial way to sell more flowers or chocolatines???? Honestly I don't mind but considerig the day I had the idea of writing down a list about my favourite "love" movies.
They are probably the ones I have memories about but some of them are also real masterpiece.

My choice is not a list from the best to the worst and, as you will see, there is no number in front of the titles but just the title.
Some movie has a great direction, other a strong story line and an other is just the "happy ending" one that sometimes we look for.

If you have a list too share it with me and let's talk about it!!!

Annie Hall (Woody Allen - 1977)

Notting Hill (Roger Michell - 1999)

When Harry met Sally (Rob Reiner - 1989)

Before sunrise (Richard Linklater - 1995)

In the mood for love (Wong Kar-wai - 2000)

Pretty woman (Gary marshall - 1990)

Breaking the waves (Lars von Trier - 1996)

West side story (Jerome Robbins and Robert Wise - 1961)

Guess who's coming to dinner (Stanley Kramer - 1967)

A summer place (Delmer Daves - 1959)

Wings of Desire (Wim Wenders - 1987)

Breakfast st Tiffany's (Blake Edwards - 1961)

Nice idea for the night could be watching a couple of these with your sweetie!

VALENTINE'S DAY

Love is never easy, I know it very well...But true love never fails, we all know how hard it can be but we also know how sweet it is...

Sonnet CXVI
by William Shakespeare

Let me not to the marriage of true minds
Admit impediments. Love is not love,
Which alters when it alteration finds,
Or bends with the remover to remove.
Oh, no! it is an ever-fixed mark
That looks on tempests.. and is never shaken.
It is the star to every wandering bark
Whose worth's unknown, although his height be taken.
Love is not Time's fool, though rosy lips and cheeks
Within his bending sickle's compass come.
Love alters not with his brief hours and weeks,
But bears it out.. even to the edge of doom.
If this be error and upon me proved,
I never writ, nor no man ever loved.

Waiting for Valentine's day

To start warming your heart...

Sonnets from the Portuguese 43: How Do I Love Thee

How do I love thee? Let me count the ways
I love thee to the depth and breadth and height
My soul can reach, when feeling out of sight.
For the ends of Being and ideal Grace
I love thee to the level of everyday's
Most quiet need, by sun and candlelight.
I love thee freely, as men strive for right
I love thee purely, as they turn from praise
I love thee with the passion put to use
In my old griefs, and with my childhood's faith.
I love thee with a love I seemed to lose
With my lost saints, --I love thee with the breath,
Smiles, tears, of all my life! -- and, if God choose,
I shall but love thee better after death.

- Elizabeth Barrett Browning
